Why Co-Working?

It's not a rhetorical question. I genuinely think people are asking why I am consistently turning up to "co-work", even when nobody else is joining me. - Sorry about the randomness of this one, but stick with me, please.

In truth, I had this theory that people would turn up en masse, and cheerlead me through the admin parts of my job, and I would do the same for them. As it turns out, my availability doesn't match everyone else's, and my idea was in fact, probably, just that. An idea.

What I can tell you is that having the space to sit, have drinks and snacks made for me, and occasionally a person there to chat to does help me NO END! The dream is to give small businesses the things I didn't have and have had to find or work out myself. How do I find an accountant who loves working with creatives? How do I get a new logo made? How do I change from a LTD company, to being a sole trader. How do I find the time to edit that gallery when I don't have a proper desk or working space at home? How do you do the generic business things, as well as actually doing the work the business is supposed to provide?

Eventually, my little coffee mornings will grow to include the right small businesses to help boost everyone else's small businesses. It will have a directory of connections that is built on a foundation of friendship and skills, rather than being a space where you pay for a ticket and hope you can work out how to speak to people who feel like competition. I want a space for anybody to come to, to get through the mundane tasks, and feel like they have succeeded, or know the next steps in order to succeed.

This is much less of a photography blog post, and entirely a business centred one, but I hope that this little moan reaches the right people who want to benefit in the way I imagine it would once this thing takes off properly.

The Deli I visit each and every month is an incredible indie space, that sells delicious food and drinks - I don't work for them, or benefit for saying these things. I just genuinely believe in them! I have a highlight on my Instagram story with all the dates I have co-working planned, so check that out and let me know if you can make it. I haven't scheduled a December date, but I am planning to do something fun for anybody who makes the other sessions throughout the year.

Here's to a collaborative, and successful business year to you all.
